MSC Veterans Day 2012 – Part Three

This blog is the part of a series for Veterans Day, highlighting military veterans who continued their service as Department of Navy civilians at MSC.

Diane Krueger retired from the Navy after 20 years of service as a Supply Corps Officer. During her time in the Navy, she served 11 years on active duty and nine years in the reserves. Krueger is now a Supervisory Contract Specialist at MSC Norfolk.  In her current role, she is responsible for oversees two branches that procure specific resources and services for MSC ships.

On my first Navy ship, I had a CO who wisely advised me that “perceptions are someone’s reality.”  I have always remembered that.  Serving in the Navy has given me an appreciation of the importance of working together as a team to accomplish a goal.  Also, being part of ships’ company and earning my Surface Warfare Supply Corps Officer qualification pin has helped me tremendously in understanding shipboard material and service requirements.

Observing Veteran’s Day always makes me remember my time in the Navy with great pride.  It also reminds me of my grandfather who was taken prisoner in Luxembourg during WII and served 18 months as a German POW.
