Thyra Jones is a management analyst currently working in MSC’s N9, strategic planning division. In her current role, she provides support to all functions of the N9 team, including portal and records management and various other process improvement areas.  Previously, Thyra provided support to MSC’s congressional affairs liaison, which exposed her to the many facets congressional relations.   Several of her responsibilities included responding to constituent inquiries, attending congressional hearings on the hill, and coordinating with senior leadership and other commands.

Thyra joined MSC in 2005 under the priority placement program and has excelled ever since  She was accepted to an upward mobility position in 2008, and has recently completed the New Leader Program, an intensive, six-month training program designed to develop future public service leaders by providing assessments, experiential learning and individual development opportunities.

When asked what she likes most about MSC, Thyra said “the support of leadership to take professional development like the New Leader Program.”

Thyra is committed to excellence on each project she undertakes and “believes that it is not enough to perform the stated goals but to craft a product that incorporates tacit objectives as well.”

Her advice to anyone interested in joining the MSC team is to “stay open to various opportunities that may come your way.  You never know where it may lead you on your path to a successful career.”
