Welcome Home USNS Laramie

Local ABC Affiliate WVEC Channel 13 visited Naval Station Norfolk early this morning to report on the homecoming of the Military Sealift Command (MSC) Fleet Replenishment Oiler, USNS Laramie.

An early morning fog delayed their return by an hour, but it was still a happy homecoming for 82 civilian mariners and 21 Navy sailors on board the USNS Laramie Tuesday morning.

The Navy Combat Logistics Support ship returned from a six-month deployment to Naval Station Norfolk.

“It was a long deployment;  we had a lot of crew change with a lot of people coming on board today and this week. But they are really glad to get home especially right before the holidays,” said Capt. William Wiggins.

Their mission is to provide supplies and services like fuel, food, ordinance, and mail to the Navy. During their six-month deployment, the ship visited 16 countries including Pakistan, Turkey, and Korea.
