JOBS AT MSC: Operations Chief

The following blog post was written by MSC’s dedicated human resources staff, and is part of a series focused on jobs at MSC – recruiting and retaining our talented workforce. Stay tuned for more and be sure to share your feedback and ideas in the comments section.

The Shipmate’s to Workmates program was designed as a great opportunity for government agencies to recruit talented men and women transitioning from active duty service into the civilian workforce. Many of the skills and experiences a Sailor gains while serving on active duty in the U.S. Navy are directly connected to the jobs MSC is filling in our civil service mariner ranks.

With that in mind, MSC has created a new type of opportunity, specifically designed for individuals with the following experience:

  • Operations Specialist or Quartermaster (E-6 or above) with 10 years experience
  • Duty Line Officer (0-3 or above), LDO or CWO with Surface Warfare officer qualifications

This new position is called the Operations Chief and these individuals will be responsible for gathering, interpreting and disseminating all operational information necessary to execute the ship’s mission. The civilian mariners serving in this role will support the Navigator/ Operations Officer in coordinating and communicating with our customers and MSC ashore units. Because of the critical skills and expertise this role will require, the position is uniquely suited for individuals who have already transitioned, or are in the process of transitioning, from active duty service.

If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about this particular position, and other opportunities with MSC, please call 1-877-JOBS-MSC or visit our website and start the process.
