JOBS AT MSC: Supporting Our Veterans

The following blog post was written by MSC’s dedicated human resources staff, and is part of a series focused on jobs at MSC – recruiting and retaining our talented workforce. Stay tuned for more and be sure to share your feedback and ideas in the comments section.

MSC has a proud history of supporting the military. We do this through the leadership and daily work of our civil service mariners. Over 40% of our CIVMAR workforce are prior service members who have opted to continue to serve their country by working with MSC.

Veterans have the potential to transition into a career that will allow them to use their  military skills and experiences, without a service commitment.  Veterans work in all of our seagoing departments in both licensed and unlicensed positions.  How many veterans do you know who work for MSC?

For those of you who want to learn more about the seagoing career opportunities, here is a sample of how your skills and experiences can translate into positions we have open.

  • As engineman (EN) in the Navy, you can apply to work in many positions in our engine department, such as a Engine Utilityman, or a Refrigeration Engineer.
  • As a culinary specialist E-7 or higher, you may qualify for our Steward Cook position.
  • As a junior officer you may qualify for Second Officer or another licensed position in our deck department.
  • If you have a SAR background, you can apply those skills in tandem with any open position to serve in a collateral duty as a Surface Rescue Swimmer.

If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about this or other opportunities with MSC, please call 1-877-JOBS-MSC or visit our website and start the process.
