JOBS AT MSC: Finding and Applying to Positions Ashore, Five Simple Steps

Have you wanted to apply to work ashore with MSC but were unsure where to begin?  Do you have an interest in starting or continuing a career with us as a mechanical engineer, financial analyst, contracting specialist or in another career path? 

MSC has a lot to offer if you answered yes to any of these questions.  But, the first thing you need to know how to do is navigate USAJobs to find our current job announcements.  USAJobs is an online database that enables you to search for federal jobs across all agencies. 

Here are some highlights of USAJobs:

  • It’s open to the public, just create an account
  • Build a profile about yourself
  • Develop and save up to five resumes
  • Create job searches for areas of interest and receive automated notifications when matches hit
  • Save jobs of interest to review announcements and apply at a later time
  • Upload and store supporting documents like transcripts, DD-214’s, SF-15’s, and others to your account
  • Apply to vacancies online
  • Track the status of your application packages

Once you’ve established an account in USAJobs, follow these five simple steps to Take Command of Your Career with MSC. 

1) Log onto your account and click on the Advanced Search> link.

2) On the Advanced Search page – scroll down until you come to the Agency Search section.  Select Department of Defense – Dept. of Navy.  Then refine your agency choice, highlight Military Sealift Command and click the Add>> button to activate this selection.

3) In the Applicant Eligibility box, select your employment eligibility following the guidelines within.

4) Click the Search Jobs button to return a listing of current MSC job announcements.

5) Open a job announcement of interest and click on the Apply Online button to begin the application process.
